Publicly filed objections concerning urban planning

Our office prepared a supplementary memorandum of objections and observations addressed to the Municipality of Aspropyrgos concerning approval of the first stage and the directions for the next stage of the study revising the approved town plan in Planning Unit 2.

The objections concern the proposed conversion of 24,000 sq.m. from a general residential area into public green space and sports facilities. They identify internal contradictions in the study, its use of a population base of 7,750 residents instead of the updated figure of 2,900, its failure to examine the zero option and other less intrusive alternatives, and the inadequate assessment of undergrounding or relocating the high-voltage power lines.

The legal objections concern the proposal’s incompatibility with the General Urban Plan and the Strategic Environmental Impact Assessment, the absence of specific planning justification and the disproportionate concentration of burdens on a limited number of properties. The memorandum requests revocation of Municipal Council Decision 238/2025 and a substantive reassessment of the available alternatives.
