EMPLOYEE CCTV PRIVACY NOTICE
A focused GDPR notice for workplace video surveillance
Our office prepared an information notice forming an appendix to employment agreements for a beauty-services business operating a workplace video-surveillance system.
The notice describes the system’s technical limits, including the absence of audio recording, biometric recognition and remote camera movement, and identifies the protection of persons, property and premises as its exclusive purposes. It expressly excludes the use of video surveillance for employee-performance assessment or continuous monitoring of workplace conduct.
The document records the legitimate-interest basis and balancing assessment, limits the fields of view, specifies authorised recipients and retention periods, and explains employees’ access, erasure and objection rights and the procedure for exercising them.
